Vernon Kalanikau shared, “The initial intent and purpose of this signage project is to acknowledge, honor, preserve, educate and to stand and be proud as kanaka maoli. This project represents all of us, the people of Maui Nui, bringing us together as one people. My family and I extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has participated in this collaborative process and who shared their manao about our islands’ moku and ahupua‘a.
